Transportation
There are four convenient options to reach Nancy:
Flying to Luxembourg (LUX) Airport
This option is highly recommended. Flights to Luxembourg are usually cheaper than the ones to Paris “Charles de Gaulle” (option 2), and arriving at Luxembourg will allow you to avoid the chaos (and the possible problems) of travelling through Paris. Furthermore, Luxembourg airport is smaller and very efficient. From Luxembourg airport, you have two possibilities:
Flying to Paris "Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport
Also landing at Paris CDG Airport you have two possibilities:
Flying to Paris-Orly (ORY) Airport
After landing at Paris-Orly, take the ORLYVAL shuttle from the airport to the RER station "Antony". From "Antony" stop take the RER B line until “Gare du Nord” and from there (using the same ticket) line 4 (or line 5) until “Gare de l’Est” (or you can walk between the two stations). From “Gare de l’Est” take a high-speed TGV train to Nancy. A ticket combining the ORLYVAL shuttle and the RER B ticket (RER B + ORLYVAL) can be bought at the Paris-Orly airport. Also in this case, the TGV tickets should be reserved in advance on the SNCF web site.
By train
Nancy station is in the center of the city. Trains from Paris ("Gare de l'Est" station) take about 1h30 (high-speed TGV trains). Trains from Luxembourg or from Strasbourg take about 1h20.
You can also arrive at "Lorraine TGV" station, which is close to the regional airport (37 km from Nancy): a shuttle will take you to Nancy downtown in approximately 40 minutes.
